Autonomous Separation Deployment Dynamics of a Space Multi-Rigid-Body System with Uncertain Parameters

Abstract: In this study, we investigate nonlinear dynamics of the autonomous separation deployment maneuver for a space multi-rigid-body system with uncertain-but-bounded parameters by using a high-efficiency interval analysis method. Based on the virtual work principle, the natural coordinate formulation method is used to describe the variations in displacements and attitude motions for rigid bodies. In addition, the orbital dynamics of the system and varying constraints between rigid bodies are incorporated into the governing equations of motion to improve the dynamic model accuracy. A multistage deployment strategy is utilized by regulating the separation sequences and directions to achieve a collision-free separation maneuver. Considering the uncertainties in the system parameters, a bounds estimation problem is formulated for the separation deployment maneuver. Furthermore, an interval analysis method utilizing the Chebyshev series is adopted to solve this problem using the lower and upper bounds of uncertain parameters. Finally, numerical simulations are included to validate the effectiveness of the interval analysis method and evaluate the influence of uncertain parameters on the system dynamics.
